In a bold stance against the 2024 budget, former presidential candidate Peter Obi has raised serious concerns about its impact on the welfare of Nigerian citizens, particularly the less privileged. Obi's unwavering commitment to advocating for the people's interests is evident as he highlights the budget's shortcomings and calls for a necessary review.

Pointing out specific allocations that raise eyebrows, Obi questions the rationale behind allocating a whopping N15 billion solely to the National Assembly hospital, a figure that far surpasses the combined budgetary allocations to major teaching hospitals across the nation. He emphasizes the disparity in healthcare resources and its implications for society at large.

Additionally, Obi criticizes the hefty N15.3 billion allocation for the National Assembly library project, especially in contrast to the neglected state of the National Library, which has been under construction for two decades with minimal budgetary support. Such disparities, he argues, reflect a concerning lack of care for essential public services.

Furthermore, Obi expresses dismay over the allocation of N10 billion for the Senate's and House of Representatives' car parks and the National Assembly Recreation Centre, highlighting the skewed priorities that prioritize leisure over crucial sectors like science, technology, and innovation.

In his call for a reassessment of priorities and a revision of the budget, Obi advocates for the elimination of frivolous expenditures and the redirection of resources towards productive sectors that benefit the people.
